An Uneventful Update

Hello Friends and Family,

It’s been quite some time since we last updated our blog. We kept hoping that our next update would be one of those monumental, celebrate-the-good-news types of updates. But now that several months have passed, we felt like we needed to give you a quick update so that you at least knew where we are.

We’re waiting. Some days it’s discouraging, some days it’s wonderful, some days it’s confusing, and some days it makes perfect sense. We often struggle to understand what God is up to, and yet are consistently reassured that we can trust Him.

We’re just about at the six-month mark in our waiting. While we have had a couple possibilities role our way, we have not yet had any “matches.” Our case worker told us that the average wait time for adoptive parents is 9-12 months, but there’s really no “normal.” Every case is so uniquely different, just like every child is so uniquely different, and so the whole process is an unexpected journey. You can say that again. So, we continue to wait (im)patiently with hope.

One of our favorite shows on television is Parenthood, and, among the numerous entertaining storylines, there is currently an adoption story unfolding there. If you’ve never seen the show, it’s a tremendously well done mix of drama and comedy. It currently airs Tuesdays at 10pm (EST), but you can watch re-runs online on NBC’s website anytime.

We’ll try to update you a little sooner next time--maybe in a month or so instead of five months. :) Thank you so much for your support and your prayers. We pray that God would continue to bless you and your families.

~ John and Mel
